Positive Behaviour Support

Supporting behaviour change through safety, compassion and clinical excellence

At Human PBS, we provide Positive Behaviour Support for children, adolescents and adults with disabilities. We support individuals and families to better understand behaviour, build skills, and create environments where people can feel safe, supported, and able to thrive.
What is Behaviour Support?

Functional Behaviour Analysis (FBA)
Your PBS practitioner will meet with you and your family and support network to gather information and data about behaviours that negatively impact the safety and well-being of you and those around you. They will determine the function of the behaviour and develop strategies that aim to reduce the need for you to use that behaviour moving forward.

Individualised Behaviour Plans (BSP)
Your PBS Practitioner will take this information and create a personalised Behaviour Support Plan that provides a 'how to' guide for you and those supporting you to implement the behaviour strategies. Behaviour Support Plans aim to build your capacity and reduce risk through skills building, safety plans, visual aids, and environmental strategies.

Implementation Support and Training
Your PBS practitioner will continue to meet with you and your support network regularly to train, coach, guide and support the ongoing use of the behaviour support plan. They will monitor the effectiveness of the strategies and tweak them with you along the way to help you achieve your goals, reduce risk, and improve your overall quality of life.
